2015 Safe and Accessible Playground Build: Las Vegas
On Tues., March 24, 2015, during the AAOS 2015 Annual Meeting, hundreds of volunteers—orthopaedic surgeons, allied health and industry partners, and families—gathered at Palabra Viva church to help transform the site so that community children will have a safe and accessible playground to play.

|Thank you to the generous sponsors who contributed to the 2015 Safe and Accessible Playground. This wonderful legacy would not be possible without their generous support!
|Approximately 30 children from Palabra Viva Las Vegas church let their imaginations soar during the December 11, 2014 Safe and Accessible Playground Build Design Day event.|
|Local orthopaedic surgeons Abdi Raissi, MD, Hugh L. Bassewitz, MD, and Michael L. Lee, MD—all board members of the Nevada Orthopaedic Society (NVOS) and physicians with Desert Orthopaedic Center—brought in props and x-rays to show common playground-related injuries to the foot and ankle, spine and arms and wrists.|
|They talked to the children and parents about why the Academy builds safe and accessible playgrounds—to minimize the number of traumatic playground-related injuries—and the importance of safe exercise and play to help children build strong bones for life.|
